Fight Irritation and Inflammation

Your body’s warning light – ON

Does it feel like something is wrong.  Does it hurt?  When the check engine indicator comes on, it’s not something you can easily ignore.  It’s called PAIN.  And your body does it for a reason:  to get your attention.  There’s a problem and you had better have a look.

What’s mysterious is when you have pain that isn’t that easily discernable. Pain in your muscles. Throbbing in your bones and joints. Headaches. Stomach pain. Backaches.  These could be signs that there is inflammation brewing in your body.

Before Inflammation: Irritation

The interesting thing about inflammation is it’s gradual. You get subtle warnings in the form of irritation.  Irritation can be things like skin rashes, acne or hives.   An itchy nose is another form of irritation, as is frequent flatulence.

Other examples of irritation are sleeping difficulties, increased body odor, bad breath, nervousness, lethargy, moodiness, loss of appetite and nausea. These are all gentle nudges that your body is giving you to let you know something isn’t right.

So, what do you do when you feel this way?  Maybe it’s easiest to reach for the pills:  pain relievers, gas or acid reducers, skin creams, laxatives, energy drinks, relaxation aids.   The list goes on and on.

Unfortunately, these chemicals only mask the symptoms of irritation — they don’t really help what’s causing the symptom.  As a matter of fact, they can even make it worse because they make you even more toxic (more on that below).

Your graduation to inflammation

Those OTC drugs do nothing to stop what’s causing the irritation. It can be only a matter of time until inflammation turns into things like arthritis, fibromyalgia, colitis, migraines and chronic back pain.

Then the “big” pills come out:  pharmaceuticals.  And away you go.

The underlying problem just continues to worsen. So your pain gets worse and worse and you need stronger and stronger drugs.  That vicious cycle of more pain – stronger drugs – more pain – stronger drugs is exactly what millions of people are living in every single day.

So, what can you do?  How can you fight pain and inflammation – without more drugs or chemicals?  Reduce the main causes of systemic inflammation.

1- Reduce the toxic waste buildup in your body

Acid wastes that are absorbed into your bloodstream and travel all over your body are THE number one cause of inflammation.

Excess acid wastes are the result of poor digestion and accumulating more acid wastes than your body can effectively eliminate through the colon, kidney, liver, or skin. In the land of fast food and packaged food-like stuff, this is mainly the result of eating foods that are inherently acid-creating and hard to digest combinations of foods.

Note that drugs (both OTC and prescription) also add to the waste buildup. Talk about putting gasoline on a fire.

But just as easily as you add to the sewage build-up by eating the WRONG foods, you can turn that around VERY quickly by simply eating the RIGHT foods. The human body is the most amazing system in that it can bounce back and overcome years and even decades of abuse and injury.

But you have to give it the proper nutrition for it to bounce back.

And that is precisely what following my advice in the Great Taste No Pain health system will help you achieve.

The whole GTNP system is designed to cleanse your body internally which reduces inflammation all around the body.

The GTNP manuals will spell out the few simple things you need to tweak that will make all the difference in the world to a chronic pain sufferer.

Now DON’T WORRY! You’ll still be able to eat yummy foods you love. You just need to be a little more discerning on what foods you eat together, and incorporate some more of the good stuff into your meals.

When you reduce your toxic waste build-up, you’ll be shocked at how much your pain dissipates.

And it’s very possible you’ll need less or no more medication. Thousands of my clients have reported being able to cut down or eliminate drugs.

How does THAT sound to you?

2- Take a daily probiotic supplement

Probiotics support the development of regulatory T cells in your immune system. These T cells help reduce “mixed-up” immune responses where your immune system “attacks” your body, causing pain and inflammation.

These wacky actions by your immune system are a major contributing factor in painful autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and Crohn’s.

Balance your intestinal flora and ensure that you have a strong army of beneficial bacteria (probiotics) in your system.  Gut friendly bacteria can help encourage more “natural anti-inflammatory” T-cells to develop, which can straighten out the crazy, mixed-up immune cells.

That can lead to SIGNIFICANT decreases in inflammation and pain.

3- Get the proper ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids

A deficiency in omega-3 essential fatty acids is a leading cause of inflammation and pain. It is the primary reason so many people are in pain. They have too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3.

A big reason for the overloaded of omega-6 fatty acids is the typical diet which is filled with refined grains, vegetable oils and meats from corn-fed animals.

There needs to be a delicate balance between omega-6’s and omega-3’s in your body. When they’re working together in about a 5:1 ratio, they effectively fight inflammation.

But most people have a ratio of 10:1 or worse. People who eat lots of processed foods have a ratio of up to 50:1!

With this perverse imbalance of omega fatty acids, the anti-inflammation system in your body cannot and does not function properly.

And you end up with LOTS of pain and inflammation as a result.

So it’s essential to replenish your omega-3 supply with a pure pharmaceutical-grade fish oil supplement.

A mountain of research touts fish oil’s capability to naturally reduce pain and inflammation from conditions like arthritis.
So don’t think you need to live a lifetime of chronic pain, or that prescription drugs are your only way out.

Don’t believe you’re meant to exist forever in the more pain-stronger drugs-more pain-stronger drugs cycle of misery.

Calm inflammation and pain naturally. Boost your body’s natural inflammation fighting power and you’ll find each of your new pain-free days a whole lot sweeter.

Eat Alkaline – Lose Weight

Holidays – It’s a time for FOOD, glorious food! All those get-togethers, dinners and parties with all that delicious food…

…and for many people, that means packing on the pounds.

Sadly, I’ve heard scores of people say they dread the holidays because they know they’ll put on weight and have trouble taking it off.

Know what?

It doesn’t have to be that way.

It IS possible to maintain a consistent weight even through the holidays.

You see, when you have doable standards for eating that you will not break and live every day feeding your body the way it was designed to be fed, excess pounds are never, ever an issue.

Here’s why:

Your body is alkaline by design. All of your organs and systems work their best (perfectly, actually) in an alkaline environment.

When your body has acid waste buildup, it doesn’t function properly and it begins to literally break down and fall apart. And you get pain, sickness, disease and…obesity.

So if you are hurting, sick or overweight, you are acidic.

Period.

Eating 50-70+% alkaline foods and combining your foods in the way that keeps digestive acid low is the key to holidays (and every day) without extra poundage.

When you eat foods that are digested with complimentary enzymes in the stomach, digestion is a snap and your food glides through the intestines smoothly.

No more toxic waste build-up.

No constipation

No bloating.

This means a trimmer, more energetic YOU.

Plus, when you don’t have overproduction of acid in your stomach, you’ll absorb more of the nutrients from your foods, so you’ll only feel hungry when you need more nutrients, not when your stomach is empty.

In the Great Taste No Pain system, I’ll show you the foods to eat and the combinations to eat them in so you can feel good at your ideal weight. You’ll also get a book of delicious recipes and even guides for eating desserts!

Good Fats & Carbs vs. Bad Fats & Carbs

One of the biggest myths in nutrition:

1) “Carbs are no good–they make you fat.”

OR

2) “Fat is bad. Low-fat is the only way to go.”

I have news for you…

Both are false.

Because your body NEEDS both.

Depending on the source, carbohydrates provide fiber, B-complex vitamins and vitamins A and E, plus the minerals magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron and selenium.

These nutrients are not “optional” when it comes to your body–they’re essential and you pay a dear price when you’re lacking them.

For instance, being low in B vitamins can cause fatigue, muscle degeneration, mental deficiency, depression, skin eruptions and headaches, among other things.

A zinc deficiency can lead to learning disabilities, poor digestion, rashes, menstrual problems, depression, prostate problems, and erratic behavior.

Funny, you don’t see that on any low-carb food packages, do you?
Similar things can be said about fats.

Fats are critical to your body for cellular function, protecting your brain and nervous system, absorbing vitamins and nutrients and maintaining fertility.

Not having enough fats causes brittle, aged-looking skin, hair and nails, repeated infections, moodiness and–get this–weight GAIN.

The key to eating for fat loss and great health is NOT to stay away from carbs and fats…but to make sure the ones you are eating are GOOD ones.
Good carbs vs. bad carbs

Good carbs are natural, unprocessed and unrefined whole grains. They include whole wheat, oat, rye, spelt, quinoa, barley, millet, buckwheat and brown rice (not white).

These grains and products made from them provide the essential nutrients I mentioned above, plus they taste delicious.

Other great sources are root vegetables like carrots, parsnips, turnips, winter squashes, etc.

Bad carbs, on the other hand, include white flour, white rice and white sugar, and all products made from them (also known as refined carbohydrates) like cakes, cookies, donuts, chips, breads, crackers, etc.

The processing of the grains strips away all of the naturally occurring nutrients and fiber. Some vitamins may be added back after processing, but only a fraction of the amount that was originally in the grain.

Refined carbohydrates are quickly converted to sugar in your body and are stored as FAT. Blubber. Adipose tissue. Flab. You-name-it.

However, whole grains and root vegetables contain balanced amounts of amino acids (the building blocks of protein), fiber, vitamins and minerals. They’re broken down more slowly by your body and used more efficiently.

AND their fiber helps encourage regular bowel movements and can decrease your risk of colon cancer.

So next time you find yourself blindly counting carbs, think instead about looking for good vs. bad carbs.
Fats–the good, bad and the ugly

A moderate amount (2-3 tablespoons) of good fat each day isn’t just a good idea — it’s VITAL.

Good fats include olive oil (preferably extra-virgin, cold pressed), avocado, butter (yes–I said butter and NEVER margarine), flaxseed oil, fish oil, nuts, meats, fish and dairy products.

These fats help you lose flab by turning off your body’s hormone messengers that direct fat storage, especially around your midsection. Plus, they make you feel fuller. (So bye-bye spare tire or muffin top.)

Healthy fats also help lower LDL cholesterol levels WITHOUT lowering HDL levels–so your HDL/LDL ratio can dramatically improve. Regular consumption of them can help lower your risk of heart disease, stroke and cancers.

Bad fats are processed fats–also known as hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats and oils.

They contain trans-fatty acids (trans-fats), which are fats that are not found in nature, so your body can’t metabolize them.

Instead, trans-fats just accumulate, clog your arteries, and cause inflammation, cell damage and heart attacks.

Trans-fats are found in deep fried foods, margarine, baked goods, powdered and artificial coffee creamers, and most processed (packaged) foods.

Look for the words “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated” on package labels. If you see them, do NOT buy the product.

And don’t be fooled by products that profess to be “low fat.” All that means is that they’re lacking good, essential fat, and the fat has probably been replaced by sugar (a bad carb).
The guidance you need

The manuals in the Great Taste No Pain eating system explain more about the health risks of bad fats and bad carbs, plus it gives you delicious ways to incorporate more good ones into your meals.

Many of the GTNP recipes are made with things like whole grains, olive oil, butter and alternatives to hydrogenated fats…and are they ever tasty! You’ll be shocked at how delicious eating for spectacular health can be.

Plus, you’ll learn about smart combinations of foods, which will help improve digestion and nutrient absorption. This can make gas, bloating, constipation, acid reflux and excess weight a thing of the past for you for good.
Don’t swear off fats or carbs any longer — your body clearly needs them!  Instead, know the good from the bad and start making smart choices.

Detoxification – An Ancient Ritual Diet

Much has been written about the detox diet (detoxification) over the decades. It seems the past ten years, roughly, have seen an explosion of these diets. The basic principle is the same across all of them, and that is to use foods (or liquids) to help your body get rid of toxins. First, we must caution you and suggest you talk to your doctor before embarking on any kind of detox diet. Many people turn to this overall approach when they want to lose weight. While it is possible to achieve that, we feel the loss will be temporary for a variety of reasons. We will talk more about the detox diet in the rest of this article. By the way, watch this free Shakeology shake video and discover how easy it can be to lose weight. Also, don’t forget to watch this Shakeology recipes video.

There are two basic approaches with many types of detox diets. First, the diet calls for avoiding foods that are known to introduce toxins in your body. Naturally, that is probably something every person should do, anyway. Secondly, the particular diet will recommend you eat foods, or drink liquids, that support the body’s ability to process and eliminate toxins. There is a fairly large variety of detox diets, and frequently they also require that your intake of calories is reduced, as well. You will find some that have you eat much smaller portions or even go on liquid fasting such as with juices, only.

The systems responsible for waste elimination, mainly the intestinal tract and digestion process, will have many products available to increase their productivity. For this reason, when you shop for detox aids, you will find enemas labeled as helpful for detoxification. Herbal enemas are reported to be very efficient as aiding in the elimination of blockages of waste matter that may have existed for a long time. Be aware that it’s not advisable to use commercial laxative products to help you promote detoxification. Psyllium (plantago psyllium), a husk product, is a natural by-product of plaintain and aids in elimination. It has been used successfully for decades. You might think that psyllium husk powder is just a laxative, but it’s properties are much more complex.

It does a fantastic job of loosening up and discharging toxic buildup throughout your intestinal tract because it is a heavy-duty fiber.

Some detox diet approaches use laxatives but not all of them do. Not only can laxatives can help with digestion, they can also help flush toxins from your body. Obviously, waste elimination is part of this process. Elimination is a critical component to the detoxification process. However, it may be more beneficial to focus on the health of your liver and kidneys. You should still consult with your doctor or a certified herbalist. Learning as much as you can is the key to successfully using the detox diet.

It’s doubtful that it would be easy to find any adult who wouldn’t benefit by a detox diet, even for a short period of time. Cultures that eat highly processed foods, such as America, would definitely benefit from an annual detoxification. Nonetheless, the very people that would benefit the most by a good detox diet are those who disdain any alternative approaches to health and, as a result, they don’t even consider something as healthful as a detox diet.
