Fight Irritation and Inflammation

Your body’s warning light – ON

Does it feel like something is wrong.  Does it hurt?  When the check engine indicator comes on, it’s not something you can easily ignore.  It’s called PAIN.  And your body does it for a reason:  to get your attention.  There’s a problem and you had better have a look.

What’s mysterious is when you have pain that isn’t that easily discernable. Pain in your muscles. Throbbing in your bones and joints. Headaches. Stomach pain. Backaches.  These could be signs that there is inflammation brewing in your body.

Before Inflammation: Irritation

The interesting thing about inflammation is it’s gradual. You get subtle warnings in the form of irritation.  Irritation can be things like skin rashes, acne or hives.   An itchy nose is another form of irritation, as is frequent flatulence.

Other examples of irritation are sleeping difficulties, increased body odor, bad breath, nervousness, lethargy, moodiness, loss of appetite and nausea. These are all gentle nudges that your body is giving you to let you know something isn’t right.

So, what do you do when you feel this way?  Maybe it’s easiest to reach for the pills:  pain relievers, gas or acid reducers, skin creams, laxatives, energy drinks, relaxation aids.   The list goes on and on.

Unfortunately, these chemicals only mask the symptoms of irritation — they don’t really help what’s causing the symptom.  As a matter of fact, they can even make it worse because they make you even more toxic (more on that below).

Your graduation to inflammation

Those OTC drugs do nothing to stop what’s causing the irritation. It can be only a matter of time until inflammation turns into things like arthritis, fibromyalgia, colitis, migraines and chronic back pain.

Then the “big” pills come out:  pharmaceuticals.  And away you go.

The underlying problem just continues to worsen. So your pain gets worse and worse and you need stronger and stronger drugs.  That vicious cycle of more pain – stronger drugs – more pain – stronger drugs is exactly what millions of people are living in every single day.

So, what can you do?  How can you fight pain and inflammation – without more drugs or chemicals?  Reduce the main causes of systemic inflammation.

 1- Reduce the toxic waste buildup in your body

Acid wastes that are absorbed into your bloodstream and travel all over your body are THE number one cause of inflammation.

Excess acid wastes are the result of poor digestion and accumulating more acid wastes than your body can effectively eliminate through the colon, kidney, liver, or skin. In the land of fast food and packaged food-like stuff, this is mainly the result of eating foods that are inherently acid-creating and hard to digest combinations of foods.

Note that drugs (both OTC and prescription) also add to the waste buildup. Talk about putting gasoline on a fire.

But just as easily as you add to the sewage build-up by eating the WRONG foods, you can turn that around VERY quickly by simply eating the RIGHT foods. The human body is the most amazing system in that it can bounce back and overcome years and even decades of abuse and injury.

But you have to give it the proper nutrition for it to bounce back.

2- Take a daily probiotic supplement

Probiotics support the development of regulatory T cells in your immune system. These T cells help reduce “mixed-up” immune responses where your immune system “attacks” your body, causing pain and inflammation.

These wacky actions by your immune system are a major contributing factor in painful autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and Crohn’s.

Balance your intestinal flora and ensure that you have a strong army of beneficial bacteria (probiotics) in your system.  Gut friendly bacteria can help encourage more “natural anti-inflammatory” T-cells to develop, which can straighten out the crazy, mixed-up immune cells.

3- Get the proper ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids

A deficiency in omega-3 essential fatty acids is a leading cause of inflammation and pain. It is the primary reason so many people are in pain. They have too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3.

A big reason for the overloaded of omega-6 fatty acids is the typical diet which is filled with refined grains, vegetable oils and meats from corn-fed animals.

There needs to be a delicate balance between omega-6’s and omega-3’s in your body. When they’re working together in about a 5:1 ratio, they effectively fight inflammation.

But most people have a ratio of 10:1 or worse. People who eat lots of processed foods have a ratio of up to 50:1!

With this perverse imbalance of omega fatty acids, the anti-inflammation system in your body cannot and does not function properly.

And you end up with LOTS of pain and inflammation as a result.

So it’s essential to replenish your omega-3 supply with a pure pharmaceutical-grade fish oil supplement.
